Following the news and indications that came from historical sources, in 2011 in the archaeological site of the city of Pompeii, experts finally found the long-sought-after path of the perfumers. Via degli Augustali connects via Stabiana with via del Foro. Along this road, 3 workshops were found, indicated with the numbers 26, 27 and 28, in which perfumes were produced and whose first phase of life dates back to the 2nd century BC. The perfumers met in an association that had its headquarters not far from Via degli Augustali, on the upper floor of the Macellum, and using the spices that Roman sailors leaving from the ports of Pozzuoli and Ostia imported from the eastern provinces, they created scented ointments that were sold in glass bottles, terracotta or alabaster containers. Relying on expert master perfumers, we have reinterpreted the fragrances of the time in a modern key, giving life to six perfumes designed to revive the opulence and grandeur of a culture that has left an indelible mark on the history of man.
